About Loren Whitehead

Loren is a registered Psychologist who is passionate about working with children, adolescents and their families. She feels privileged to be able to support young people during a time in their lives of major growth and development, as it provides an opportunity to create really meaningful, long-lasting positive change that can be carried forward into their adulthood.

While the young person is always at the centre of the work Loren does, she also looks at the child’s wider environment, including family relationships, school, and peers, when considering what might be contributing towards their current struggles. Her approach includes a combination of individual therapy, parent support sessions, and family work.

Loren has experience working with children and teenagers with a range of difficulties, some of which have included anxiety, low mood, OCD, difficulties regulating emotions, behavioural issues, and family relationship problems.

Loren draws on a range of different evidence-based therapy modalities because she believes there is not a ‘one size fits all’, and it is important that the approach is tailored to meet the individual needs of the young person and their family. Some of these include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Attachment-Based Family Therapy.

Her post-graduate qualifications are in Child and Family Psychology, with five years working across a range of public health settings.
