Codeine or alcohol dependence

During this time of national lockdown, there might be some New Zealanders out there that need a little bit of extra help. There are some folks that for various reasons find themselves in a position where they are reliant on taking daily codeine containing products such as Nurofen Plus and Panadeine Extra, and are now struggling to be able to continue with this, due to diminished access. You might find yourself experiencing uncomfortable symptoms such as:

  • feeling irritable/anxious
  • trouble sleeping
  • teary eyes
  • runny nose
  • sweating more than usual
  • yawning
  • achy muscles
  • upset tummy
  • nausea and/or vomiting
  • goosebumps.

Some people might also be used to having a daily alcoholic drink or two, and are now finding it difficult to continue with this. You might also be experiencing a range of uncomfortable symptoms as a result including:

  • shakes
  • headaches
  • nausea and/or vomiting
  • feeling anxious
  • trouble sleeping
  • sweating more than usual.
